Lila's Dress & Boots, free pattern and tutorial

Time to clothe Lila!  My little princess is watching the beginning of Tangled with me.  I think that Rapunzel needed a blog.  She is seriously talented.  I want to read blog that can accurately tell me how to clean, sweep and mop my house in 15 minutes!  And talk about tutorials!  She does it all.  I think I may want to be a Disney princess.  It would have some serious perks.  (Not the least of which is some sort of communication/mind control of cute little animal hair dressers.)  Oh well, back to reality...
This is the simplest pattern I have ever drawn, 2 pieces total!  Your going to have to cut out some strips as well, but that is easy.
Dress Materials:
6"x 45" Main Fabric
Scrap of at least 2"x 13" of Contrasting Fabric
Velcro strip cut to .5"x 8.25"
Thread for dress

Boot Materials:
1 Sheet of Craft Felt
Embroidery Thread and Needle for the Laces
Thread to sew the fringe & tongue onto the boots

Pattern:
(Right click on the sheet you want and left click "Open image in new tab," then print--Ctrl P or Apple P.  Make sure that it is printing at 100% and not "fit to page.")

Here is a photo tutorial of the steps you need to accomplish the dress:
1. Sew the contrasting strip onto your front pieces. (pic 1 & 2)
2. Sew the arm/shoulder seams of the front and back pieces together. (pic 3 & 4)
--I like to overedge lock stitch all of my doll clothes to make them more secure and keep loose thread from forming after time has passed.  A ziz-zag stitch would have nearly the same effect.--
3. Iron a crease to close the front  and sew it closed.  (pic 5)  Iron under the edges and sew down around the neckline and down the back pieces.  Repeat one what will be the sleeve opening.  Sew the side edges and sleeves together.  Iron under the edges on the bottom and sew it down as well.  You are done!
**Optional: You can add a tie in the front with contrasting material or a ribbon.  I used a 1.5"x 4" folded in half lengthwise and sewn into a tube.  I tucked in the edges after turning it rightside out and sewed them shut.  I knotted that and sewed it on as well.

For the boots:
 I cut fringe by making 1.125" strips and cutting them .125" below the top into fringe about .125" apart using an Exacto.  It wasn't hard but it took time. 4.5" will go around the boots.  You will need 3 strips per boot.  Sew on the fringe strips BEFORE sewing up the foot.  Start with the bottom fringe and go to the top.  Turn boot inside out and sew the rounded part of the boot together.  Turn rightside out (where the fringe is.)  Cut a thin strip of felt to be the tongue of the boot and hand-sew it onto the inside at the bottom of the opening, just like real boots.  Take your embroidery needle and put an unseperated strand of embroidery thread on it.  Put the boots on your doll.  Sew the thread through the boots like you would lace your boots.  Start with the top and zig-zag down, go across at the bottom  and zig-zag up the other way.  At the top tie the boots into a bow and cut the thread to your desired length.  Knot the edges to keep the laces from unraveling or being pulled out of the boots accidentally when you take them off Lila.
