Blythe is now 4! I wanted to get her an 18" doll like my American Girl Doll that she admires. However, I am not going to pay $100 for her first 18" doll. I consider this doll a cute training doll. (I bought her at Target for less than $30 & she came with 2 outfits and pairs of shoes.) She loves "Izzybelle" and I have started making them matching outfits, which she loves even more!
Materials for an 18" Doll Nightgown:
1/3 yard of fabric
thread
11" of 1" wide velcro (cut to 1/2" wide)
Printer, paper, & scissors
Here is the pattern. You can click on it and print it at 100% or click here for the PDF.
Here is a quick tutorial to make the nightgown. If you are not familiar with gathering (ruffling) fabric click here and view my tutorial halfway down the post titled "How to Gather Ruffles."
I hope that you enjoyed making this and that it will bring joy to you and whoever you made it for!
Thank you SO very much for this pattern! I posted pics of the sweet gown I made and gave a link to your blog! Hope you can stop by to visit! http://lavenderdreamstoo.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThanks! You did a wonderful job!
DeleteHow big is the skirt piece?
ReplyDeleteIt was the left over fabric from cutting out the bodice pieces. I think it was about 11.5"x27". I was using 45" wide cotton fabric. I would have just ruffled it more had my fabric been wider (60" wide fabric would have yielded a 11.5"x42"). It's an easy pattern to adjust.
DeleteSorry if this comes through twice. The link above won't open for me as a PDF, still a jpg and when I print even at 100% the square inch box isn't the size it should be, it's smaller. I'm using Chrome browser. Any suggestions? This is so cute, found it on Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean about the .jpg issue. I have converted it to a pdf and you should be able to print it now with no problems. :o)
DeleteHow did you finish the neck edge? The way the pattern reads it's left as raw edge
ReplyDeleteI did an overlock Stitch all the way around. Then I ironed it under and sewed it flat with a 2 millimeter straight Stitch.
DeleteThanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the seam allowance?
ReplyDeleteI can not print pattern. Not even allowing to change to pdf. Help!
